Lesson 4 of 13

Blocking & coverage

Blocking & coverage

Blocking is how actors and camera move through a scene; coverage is the set of shots you capture so it can be edited. Plan a master shot plus the close-ups and inserts you'll need.

Key points

  • Blocking = movement of actors and camera.
  • Coverage = the shots needed to cut the scene.
  • Master + close-ups + inserts.

Try it: block a two-person scene and list its coverage.
